Our mission is to guide Caribbean athletes and their families through the US college recruiting process with clarity so that talent is properly guided and opportunities are not missed.
FITCAMP Recruits was founded in 2020 by my husband, Graeme Browne, and me, Marecia Browne. We are both former national track and field athletes who proudly represented our country at regional and international competitions, including the CARIFTA Games. Graeme also competed as a national basketball athlete.
Ironically, we attended rival high schools, and for years our friendly (and sometimes not-so-friendly) debates about whose alma mater was better never seemed to end. One night, after yet another argument, God stirred our hearts with a simple but powerful message: stop arguing—and start helping the athletes. That moment changed everything.
During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, my husband Graeme and I used the downtime to formally prepare FITCAMP Recruits. Later that summer, we successfully helped our first two athletes secure scholarships. What began as an act of obedience quickly became a clear sense of purpose.
My own journey has shaped much of the vision behind FITCAMP Recruits. In 2009, I received a full athletic scholarship to Florida State University, offered by Coach Jackie Streete-Thompson. I enrolled in January 2010 and went on to become an ACC Champion in the 100m and 60m, an NCAA All-American, and a team captain. I also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and after an injury that required surgery, I redshirted and was granted an additional year—during which I earned a Master’s degree in International Affairs in 2014.
After graduating, I worked at Florida State University as an International Recruiter, assisting the Track & Field office with recruiting athletes. It was there that I saw firsthand how early U.S. athletes begin the recruiting process—and how early colleges start tracking talent. That experience opened my eyes to a major gap: many Caribbean athletes only begin looking for opportunities after high school or sixth form, long after their peers in other countries have already been identified and supported. That realization stayed with me.

Graeme’s experience added another layer. He received a partial scholarship opportunity, but due to poor guidance and false hope—something many Caribbean athletes face—the opportunity slipped away. That experience fuels his passion today. He is deeply committed to encouraging young athletes to act early, ask questions, and take opportunities seriously before it’s too late.
FITCAMP Recruits is licensed with the Inland Revenue Department in St. Kitts and operates virtually, allowing us to support athletes across the Caribbean and beyond.
To date:
23 athletic scholarships have been secured through our program
18 athletes successfully received scholarships
Several athletes returned for additional support, including transfers from junior college to university
Scholarship value exceeds USD $700,000
We believe every hardworking athlete deserves to be rewarded. At the very least, that reward should be an academic degree—something no one can take away. Sports careers are unpredictable. Injuries happen. Retirement comes quickly. Education provides security, options, and the foundation for a career, business, or future beyond sport.
FITCAMP Recruits exists to help athletes win on the field and in life.
Above all, we work to give back—and we give God all the glory for every opportunity, every athlete, and every open door.
