A showcase is a structured evaluation event where student-athletes perform in front of college coaches. It gives coaches the chance to assess ability, potential, attitude, and competitiveness in a live setting—beyond stats and video.
In the U.S., showcases are a major part of the recruiting system, especially in track & field, basketball, and soccer. Thousands of athletes attend them every year because they:
Put athletes directly in front of coaches
Provide real, in-person evaluations
Speed up the recruiting process
Help athletes stand out beyond online profiles
For many athletes, especially those outside the U.S., showcases create access that would otherwise be hard to get.
Yes, when athletes are prepared and supported.
Coaches often use showcases to:
Confirm talent they’ve already seen on paper or video
Discover new athletes they weren’t previously aware of
Decide who to continue recruiting
That said, showcases are not magic. They work best when athletes are properly prepared, realistically placed, and understand what coaches are truly looking for.
In 2025, FITCAMP Recruits hosted its first Track & Field showcase, marking an important step in creating real opportunities for Caribbean athletes.
Highlights:
3-day event
Athletes attended from St. Kitts & Nevis, Montserrat, Anguilla, and St. Maarten
32 athletes participated
10 athletes received interest from visiting and non-visiting college coaches
Visiting Coaches Included:
Coach Jackie Streete-Thompson
Assistant Coach (Sprints & Hurdles), University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)
Coach Ryan McKenzie
Head Coach, William Carey University Track & Field
Caribbean athletes have the talent but sometimes 'access' is the missing piece for their continued success.
See photos below.
Building on that success, we plan to host:
Another Track & Field showcase
Our first Basketball showcase
Our first Soccer showcase
While dates are not yet set, we are aiming for summer events. Details and registration will be shared once finalized.
No, not every athlete will need to attend a showcase.
However, depending on an athlete’s sport, position, performance level, personal bests, stats, and recruiting goals, attending a showcase may be required in order for us to assist them effectively.
We make that decision carefully and always explain why it’s recommended.
